Just missing out on a state championship the previous year, Stafford made sure this was the year with 50 points and a first-place trophy at the Class 4A state meet in Austin. Cameron Montgomery was the standout with gold in the 100-meter dash and silver on the 800 relay team along with Christopher Brantley, James Brown and David Allison. It’s the school’s first state championship in any sport since boys basketball in 1992.
