HomeAid updates Santa Maria Hostel’s Bonita House lobby

-

Santa Maria Hostel, a homeless care agency that provides services for women to regain self-worth and hope for a better future, will be receiving an updated lobby/receiving area as part of a HomeAid Houston Care Project.

HomeAid, A 501(c)(3) charity of the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA), is partnering with GHBA members to improve Santa Maria’s Bonita House to enhance the space that receives new families, and is the contact point for the day-to-day operations of the facility. HomeAid board member Leslie King with Greymark Construction is heading up the project.

HomeAid has been supporting Santa Maria Hostel Bonita House since they moved into the property and the remodel of the lobby area is the fifth project completed for the agency.

“First impressions are so important, and we want to make sure that the families walking in to our lobby feel welcome,” said Nadine Scamp, Santa Maria Hostel CEO. “The renovations provided by HomeAid will ensure we have a beautiful, calming space.”

Work will include rebuilding the reception area desk, providing storage and a new coat of paint.

“HomeAid is again honored to have Leslie King spearhead this HomeAid Care project for Santa Maria Hostel,” said Cindy Hinson, president of HomeAid Houston. “She has been involved in countless HomeAid projects that have added new life to rooms and spaces.”

Santa Maria is a multi-site residential and outpatient substance abuse treatment center and one of a very few to provide comprehensive continuum for pregnant and parenting women and their children. Clients progress toward achieving improved mental and physical health, family functioning and economic stability that supports a drug and violence-free lifestyle.

“It is always an honor to work with HomeAid on the Care projects,” King said. “The improvements to Santa Maria Hostel’s reception area will give a new look and feel to the community, like a front entry to a home.”

HomeAid Care Projects are smaller projects ranging in cost between $10,000 and $50,000. Since its inception in 2003, HomeAid has added 423 beds to Houston’s homeless community and its projects have served approximately 22,124 people.
