Popo eruption

Mexico’s towering Popocatépetl volcano exploded four times in less than 24 hours, spewing ash high into the sky about 40 miles southeast of Mexico City.

The country’s National Center for Disaster Prevention warned residents not to approach the volcano, especially the crater, because of the danger of falling debris.

The agency added that “Popo” produced 73 plumes and two tectonic earthquakes.
