Woodlands’ Lewis just misses medal

-

Inbee Park, a seventime major titlist who hasn’t won all year on the LPGA Tour, took command of the Olympic Golf Course with a 5-under 66 and won the gold medal by five strokes over 19-year-old New Zealander Lydia Ko.

The Americans had an outside chance at a medal. Stacy Lewis of The Woodlands birdied the 16th and 17th holes but missed a 15-foot birdie on the 18th and shot 66, leaving her one stroke behind Shanshan Feng, who won the bronze for the 72-hole event.
