Miss Caroline Elizabeth Burke Weds Mr. Travis Baker Mossy

Miss Caroline Elizabeth Burke and Mr. Travis Baker Mossy were united in marriage on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 6:00 o’clock in the evening at The Episcopal Church of the Incarnatio­n in Highlands, North Carolina. The double ring ceremony was officiated by The Reverend Martin J. Bastian of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas. Scriptures were read by Danna McKay Burkett and Julie Elizabeth Mossy. Music for the ceremony was provided by Allegro Strings. Following the ceremony, the bride’s family hosted a reception at The Farm at Old Edwards Inn with entertainm­ent provided by I Love This Band of Atlanta, Georgia. On the eve of the wedding, the parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at Piermont Cottage at Old Edwards Inn.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Thomas Burke of Houston, Texas. She is the granddaugh­ter Mr. Thomas Ney Hunt, II and the late Mrs. Sandra Joy Hunt of Houston, Texas and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Walker Burke, Jr. of Houston, Texas.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Baker Mossy of Rancho Santa Fe, California. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Luther Meyer of Carlsbad, California and Mr. Wiley Lyons Mossy, Jr. and the late Mrs. Jane Potts Mossy of Houston, Texas.

Presented in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a couture gown designed by Vera Wang of New York. The light ivory v-neck gown of stretch silk was embellishe­d with soft silk flowers and featured a hand pleated fitted dropped waist bodice with illusion lace short short sleeves. The soft fitted trumpet skirt fell into a beautiful long circular cathedral train. To complement her gown, the bride wore a long ivory illusion cathedral length veil created by the designer. The bride carried a bouquet in shades of white and ivory with soft blush and peach accents of roses, gardenias and ranunculus wrapped with satin ivory ribbon and an antique embroidere­d handkerchi­ef monogramme­d with five generation­s belonging to her maternal great, great grandmothe­r.

Serving as Maid of Honor was Vivian Daniel Heard of Houston serving as Matron of Honor was Loren Phillips Reardon of Dallas, Texas. Bridesmaid­s were Mary Margaret Burke Daugherty and Katherine Evan Hunt, both cousins of the bride, of Houston, Martha Claiborne Farmer of Washington D.C., Sara Elizabeth Guarisco of Lafayette, Louisiana, Blake Elizabeth Mossy, sister of the groom, of New York City, New York, Betsey King Pope of Richmond, Virginia and Morgan Blair Selzer of Los Angeles, California. The bridesmaid­s wore gowns of blush silk chiffon. They each carried bouquets composed of tonal shades of white and ivory garden and spray roses hand tied with satin ivory ribbon.

Serving in the house party were Jordan Elizabeth Jones and Lindsey Ellen Phillips, both of Houston, Alexandra Lyons Watt, cousin of the groom, of New York City, New York and Burkley Wombwell Fitzsimons of San Antonio, Texas. Serving as flower girls were, cousins of the groom, Valentina Rivet Mossy and Victoria Faith Mossy of San Diego, California. They carried baskets of flowers and wore circlet flower crowns in their hair.

Serving as Best Man was, brother of the groom, Charles Meyer Mossy of Rancho Santa Fe. Groomsmen were Robert William Crosby Bennett of Rancho Santa Fe, William Jonathan Daugherty, Jr. of Houston, Andrew Michael Haskett of San Diego, California, Robert Bradley Hicks of La Jolla, California, Brian David Hubert of Carlsbad, California, Dylan Espley-Jones of Newport Beach, California, Justin Karl-Ara Kurn of Encinitas, California, Tate Alexander Magner of New York City, New York and Joshua Seth Robins of Washington, D.C.

Serving as ushers were Thomas Walker Burke III and Walter William Burke, brothers of the bride both of Houston and Mario Justin Kurn of Encinitas.

Caroline is a 2008 graduate of The Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas. She graduated in 2012 from Sewanee: The University of the South where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and was a member of Theta Pi sorority. She graduated in 2015 from the Gemologica­l Institute of America in Carlsbad, California where she earned a Graduate Jeweler degree.

Travis is a 2005 graduate of Santa Fe Christian School in Solana Beach, California. He graduated in 2009 from Southern Methodist University where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administra­tion in Finance and was a member and President of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He served as an Infantry Officer in the United States Marine Corps from 2009-2013. He is employed at Mossy Automotive Group.

Following their honeymoon in Kaui, the couple will reside in Cardiff by the Sea, California.
