Piperi says demand strong for homes $200K and under

Melonee Piperi, a Realtor with Keller Williams, suggests homeowners with properties in the $200,000 range or less who are considerin­g listing their property do so as soon as possible.

“It is a great time to sell, because homes in this price point are in high demand. Also, if you are looking to move into a luxury home $400,000 and up, it is also a great time to buy, as inventory for these homes is healthy. Interest rates remain low, which allows buyers to purchase more home for their money,” Piperi said.

Piperi, recently attended a conference where Gary Keller, chairman of the board of Keller Williams, gave a “state of the real estate market” talk.

“Mr. Keller noted the real estate market is shifting, and we are seeing this in Houston. He said when the real estate market was slowing there would be several indicators: the number of days a property is on the market; inventory increases; price of homes decreases; the number of sales decreases; and new constructi­on remained even,” Piperi said.

Houston is seeing these indicators, but there are a number of items keeping Houston’s real estate market healthy.

“First-time home buyers are moving into the market due to low interest rates, and affordable prices. Also, many energy-related companies are combining offices and moving employees to Houston,” Piperi said.

Also, the health care industry continues to grow and expand, bringing people to Houston.

“When people are relocating to Houston, or are looking to move to a different area, they often feel stressed. We understand this stress, and we make it as easy as possible, which our clients appreciate,” Piperi said.
