Empowering voters
Regarding “Prepare to vote” (Page A35, Sept. 11), I have two suggestions for the Texas Legislature. Instead of wasting more taxpayer money on ways to suppress the vote, aka Voter ID laws, why don’t they find an ironclad way that will stand up in court to define residency so that many of us are not stuck with carpetbaggers who don’t live in our districts?
While they’re at it, how about hiring an independent firm to draw boundaries that make sense instead of picking the voters they want? Unfortunately for voters, neither of these suggestions will be heard. And we wonder why there’s low voter turnout in Texas.
