Calcasieu Lake —

Guide Kirk Stansel of HR&G said birds are working over small trout. Better trout have been found on the lower end of the channel on finger mullet. Redfish are finally beginning to show. Teal hunting has been very good in the marsh.

Galveston —

The artificial bite remains tough in the bay. Best catches have come on live bait along the beachfront. Bull redfish are showing at the jetty and on the beach.

Matagorda —

Guide Charlie Paradoski reported good catches of trout and redfish in the surf. Slot-size reds in the first gut.

Port O’Connor —

Guide Lynn Smith reported trout to 24 inches in the surf on topwaters. Flats adjacent to the jetty are holding fish as well.

Hunting —

Mike Grigar of Johnny’s Sport Shop in Eagle Lake reported excellent teal hunts in Eagle Lake, Garwood, East Bernard and Lissie. Second-cropped rice is concentrat­ing birds.
