Vivienne Tam is smitten with Houston.

The New York fashion designer turned to the city for inspiration for her spring collection, which debuted at New York Fashion Week.

Visit Houston, the website of the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau, helped her to obtain licenses from NASA, Rice University and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo to use their logos in her designs.

Tam kicked off her show with NASA astronaut Tracy Dyson on a recorded broadcast from the International Space Station’s Mission Control.

The original plan was to have an ISS astronaut who is in orbit address the 1,000-person show live, but that changed after last week’s SpaceX launchpad explosion, a Tam spokeswoman told Women’s Wear Daily.

Drawing inspiration from RodeoHouston, Tam created Eastern Cowboy and Panda Cowboy concepts and used the iconic “bowlegged H” logo as an integral part of several pieces in the collection.

Tam may bring her show to Houston before February’s Super Bowl at NRG Stadium — and then Mexico and Asia.

The designer will donate a percentage of sales from these looks to benefit the Houston Livestock and Rodeo Scholarship Fund.
