Gates grew up in world of real estate
The real estate industry is complex, fast-moving and embraces consistent change.
“Therefore, it is important for anyone consider buying or selling to work with a Realtor who is experienced, and to represent them with positive counsel,” said Dane Gates, a Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Anderson Properties.
When Gates was growing up, he spent many days with his Realtor/ broker grandmother, putting up signs and lockboxes on properties, which is where his love of real estate began.
However, after graduating from Baylor University, he was recruited by an insurance company.
“I was in inside sales and it was difficult sitting in a chair all day, and having limited people contact except over the phone. On the first floor of the building where I was working, there was a real estate office that I passed by a number of times a day. So, one day I just took the leap into real estate,” Gates said.
Gates loves what he does now, and he loves being out and about, showing homes, meeting many people, and working with clients.
However, in his previous job he honed skills that transferred easily into his real estate career. For example, it further sharpened his work ethic.
“I learned persistence to achieve a goal. I also learned that a sale did not work out, that you shake yourself off and keep working toward the goal. I also worked with many different personalities and a diverse client base, honing my communication skills. In real estate today, I continue to work with a diverse clientele successfully,” Gates said.
He is known for being self-motivated, setting and reaching goals, his love of people, being professional, friendly, knowledgeable on the market, and technologically savvy. All of these skills led to Houston Association of Realtors naming him one of the top 20 under 40, and the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Anderson Properties also named him to the Chairman’s Circle, both high honors.
Gates is a native Houstonian, and has lived in many different parts of the city. Today, he calls The Woodlands home, which is also his main focus area.
“I assist clients mainly in The Woodlands, which includes Spring, Tomball, Magnolia and Conroe,” he said.
