Galaxy Note 7 recalled for overheating, fire problems
On Thursday, federal consumer regulators formally recalled the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone after dozens of users reported the device caught fire while charging. Samsung said on Sept. 2 that it would stop selling Galaxy Note 7s. The company has received 92 reports of the batteries overheating in the U.S., including 26 reports of burns and 55 reports of property damage from fires, the Consumer Product Safety Commission reported. The Federal Aviation Administration on Saturday issued new guidance on carrying defective or recalled devices. Airlines have asked Galaxy Note 7 owners to turn off their phones and have prohibited them from charging their phones while on the planes.
