Texas Grand Ranch shows support to military veterans, sells homesites
Patten Companies, know for its recreation and residential property development, partnered with two foundations that focus on improving the lives of our veterans.
With the support of Patten family friend Michael Berry, PTSD Foundation of America’s Camp Hope, provides a safe haven for veterans and their families to find help and healing when enduring the effects of posttraumatic stress.
Its 90-day PTSD recovery program offers group lessons and support sessions with other combat veterans, individual mentoring sessions with a certified combat trauma mentor, the opportunity to get involved in off-site group bonding events and working with businesses and volunteer organizations, all in an effort to assist their personal healing and to educate the community about the invisible wounds of war.
Lone Survivor Foundation bears a similar mission, but its methodology varies. After surviving a harrowing and emotional Navy SEAL mission, Operation Red Wing that claimed his comrades, Marcus Luttrell returned to his ranch in Texas, composed of the same soil that is now home to Texas Grand Ranch, and began his journey toward healing. His time in Afghanistan to gather intelligence on the Taliban left him a victim of the invisible wounds of war, but he was able to transition to post-military life through holistic healing in his homeland.
Texas Grand Ranch borders the Sam Houston National Forest, with lots ranging in size from 2 to 5 acres. 30 homesites sold during the Homesites Helping Heroes Land Sale for a Cause last weekend. Luttrell and Berry made a special appearance, as they accepted the donations to their two foundations.
The community’s 2-acre lots begin at $59,900 and include public electrical utility links, access to the community’s private central water system and have access to I-45. New national forest lots are available.
