HAR sets national record for real estate industry fundraising
What do the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR) and Dr. Evil from the “Austin Powers” movies have in common? They both think $1 million is a lot of money.
HAR has become the first local Realtor association in the United States to raise $1 million for the Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee (TREPAC), the Texas arm of RPAC (Realtor Political Action Committee).
TREPAC backs local, state and national political candidates and elected officials who have a proven track record of protecting private-property rights, preserving the dream of homeownership and promoting the real estate industry.
HAR members donated slightly over $1 million for TREPAC through fundraising events and auctions throughout 2016.
“This achievement is an excellent example of industry leadership and demonstrates the serious commitment HAR members have made to the real estate industry and their real estate clients,” said Chance Brown, 2016 chairman of HAR TREPAC.
“I am incredibly proud of the generosity of our members,” said HAR chairman Mario Arriaga. “Our profession is blessed to have so many members engaged in the practice of real estate that understand the importance of investing in TREPAC. Doing so allows us to be at the table to meet with our elected leaders when they consider passage of different bills that impact not only the real estate profession, but the pocketbook of the clients and consumers we work so hard to serve.”
