Real estate is a family business for Afshari

- By Rebecca Maitland HOMES CORRESPONDENT

When he was in middle school, Michael Afshari, a Realtor with John Daugherty, Realtors, already knew what he wanted to do for his career. He wanted to work in some area of the real estate industry.

“Real estate is in my DNA, and I grew up on construction sites with my father and uncle. Many of my family members are builders, real estate brokers, Realtors and developers, or are in other areas of real estate,” Afshari said.

Afshari, a native Houstonian, attended college in California. During his sophomore year, he got his real estate licenses and began working for a successful Realtor to help him learn the industry. He returned to Houston and settled in the River Oaks, Tangelwood, Memorial and Heights area. This is his family’s home area and his main focus area.

“Since I grew up in these areas, I know just about everything there is to know about them and stay on top of everything happening in these communities. However, I go where my clients want to go and I work in all price points,” Afshari said.

Afshari is known for his negotiation, integrity, ethics and collaboration skills, as well as being accessible, answering his phone and responding to emails quickly.

“There are so many different parts and people involved in each real estate transaction, and I have found collaborating well helps make each step of the way much smoother, especially since we all have one common goal and that is to help the client reach their goal of either selling or buying,” Afshari said.

He offers the same tips for buyers and sellers.

“Find a Realtor to represent who you like and work well. Remember, if you are buying or selling, this will probably be one of the largest transactions you will go through, so make sure the Realtor will walk with you through each step and will do what they say they will do,” Afshari said.

Afshari loves what he does, and he loves the work, the stress, the deadlines, and everything involved with each transaction, all to meet his clients’ goal.

“Real estate is more than a passion for me, it is my life and I never turn it off. I am always thinking, researching, working and looking for that perfect home for a client. I also love homes — the architecture, the design and most of all the people who will call these houses home,” Afshari said.
