MARILYN ANN LOVE CUNNINGHAM

Marilyn Ann Love Cunningham, 83, died Monday, October 3, 2016, from recurrent ovarian cancer. She grew up in Washington State and was a graduate of Whitworth University and Deaconess School of Nursing in Spokane. She served as a Captain in the US Army Nurse Corps as well as in many various positions involving patient care, nursing education and management. In 1957 she married Peter Stokes Cunningham and lived in South Carolina until 1970 when the family moved to Texas.

Marilyn became involved in many civic organizati­ons, serving on the boards of the Friendswoo­d United Methodist Church, the Friendswoo­d Volunteer Fire Department, the Clear Woods Improvemen­t District, the Bayou Preservati­on Society, the Clear Creek PTA Area Council, and several area school PTAs where she was awarded a Texas Lifetime PTA membership. She was also active in the San Jacinto Girl Scout Council, the League of Women Voters, the Wedgewood Village Homeowners Associatio­n and Beta Chi Chapter of Delphians.

She is survived by her husband; her children Ann Manchester and husband Kenny of Tomball, TX, Dr. Alexia Fields and husband Dr. Ted of Rockwall, TX, and Peter Cunningham II of LaMarque, TX; grandchild­ren, Elizabeth and Andrew Manchester, Benjamin and Alexander Fields and Strena Cunningham; and her brother Wendell Love in Palo Alto, CA.

A memorial service and reception will be held Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Friendswoo­d United Methodist Church, Friendswoo­d, TX. Burial will be in Sumter, SC.
