More and more students are making

Lone Star College their first choice,” said Dr. Stephen C. Head, LSC chancellor. “When you factor in our affordable tuition, being close to home and the personal attention students receive in our small classes, you can understand why they choose Lone Star College.”

This fall semester, LSC welcomed more than 98,000 students — including credit and noncredit students — making it one of the largest higher education institutions in Texas.

“I had already been accepted to a variety of universities,” said Jeremy Martinez, LSC graduate. “I can easily say that my Lone Star College experience has far exceeded that of many of my peers who have chosen four-year universities out of high school.”

Students looking to earn a four-year degree start here, then transfer to a university, saving thousands of dollars without sacrificing quality. LSC students can take advantage of specialized programs such as the Honors College at LSC for high-achieving students, and study abroad and international programs.

LSC is also known as a world leader in workforce training — training that helps students launch new careers in some of the hottest industries in the Houston region like heath care, computer technology, HVAC-R, construction, skilled trades, accounting, energy, transportation and more.

“Aside from the real-world training that I received throughout my Microsoft Academy courses, my interaction with instructors, deans and peers at Lone Star College also proved to be valuable training,” said Waquas Hussain, LSC graduate.

Qualified students also can get financial aid and grant funding options that can provide training at little or no cost.

Think you’ll miss out on a college experience? LSC has lots of great ways to get involved with your campus, other students and even the community. LSC offers a comprehensive schedule of both intramural and club sports, as well as many clubs and student organizations.

Georgetown University’s Center on Education and the Workforce estimates that 65 percent of all jobs will require some sort of postsecondary training by 2020. Programs offered at Lone Star College teach the necessary skills to get the credentials need to quickly get into the workforce, or find a better career.

Affordable tuition, being close to home and getting a world-class education are reasons why students choose Lone Star College to start close and go far.
