Realtor works with expats moving to Houston

- By Rebecca Maitland

The real estate market continues to be strong, even as we move into the holidays, as people are still moving to Houston and hoping to close before the end of the year.

“This is especially true in my focus area, which is West Houston and the Energy Corridor off I-10,” said Maylis HopewellCurie, Realtor, Bernstein Realty.

In and around West Houston and the Energy Cooridor, there are some very nice properties on the market and quite a lot of choice.

Curie has also purchased several homes in this area so she has been on both sides of the table when it comes to buying and selling, which her clients appreciate her personal and professional experience.

Moreover, Curie works with many expats moving into Houston, especially from France.

“I am from France and moved to Houston in 2007. My two children though are true Texans as they were born here,” Curie said.

Curie, who has a Ph.D. in History of Art, worked as a researcher in a museum in England, prior to moving to Houston and real estate.

“My previous research job was very interesting albeit very lonely. I had always been interested in real estate and our move to Texas gave me a chance to start a new career. I thoroughly enjoy working with Bernstein Realty and consider my broker Amy Bernstein a great role model,” Curie said.

As a Realtor, Curie has blossomed both professionally and on a personal level, making many friends. She loves working with people, and has a smile on her face each morning as she heads off to work. There is nothing more wonderful than loving what you do, and she enjoys all aspects of real estate.

Curie is an expert researcher, which her clients appreciate as she searches for the home that meets their goals and needs. She is also very detailed oriented, continues her education to ensure her clients receive the best possible service, and he has in-depth knowledge of the market.

Curie is also involved in the French community and serves on the welcome committee at Houston Accueil, an organization welcoming French-speaking newcomers. She is also president of Houston Expat Pro, a non-profit organization to help expat spouses.
