No. 9 Baylor pounds Xavier

WACO — Manu Lecomte scored 24 points, and No. 9 Baylor took over in the second half in a 76-61 victory over No. 7 Xavier on Saturday.

Johnathan Motley added 17 points and eight rebounds for the Bears (80), who have beaten three Top 10 teams in the same season for first time.

Xavier was up 51-50 when Edmond Sumner, who had 19 points, hit a 3-pointer with 11:15 to play. The Musketeers then went almost nine minutes before making another field goal.

Lecomte, the former Miami transfer, put Baylor ahead to stay with two free throws. By time he made a jumper with 3:36 left, it capped a 21-2 run to put the Bears up 71-53. HOUSTON 105 PRAIRIE VIEW A&M61

Rob Gray Jr. made four 3-pointers and scored 23 points, Damyean Dotson had 16 points and 11 rebounds, and the Cougars ran away with a victory over the Panthers at Hofheinz Pavilion.

Devin Davis added 14 points for the Cougars (6-1), who came into the game off an 84-69 loss at LSU on Tuesday after opening the season with five straight victories.

Zachary Hamilton and Shaquille Preston hit 3-pointers in the first two minutes to give Prairie View A&M (2-6) a 6-4 lead, but Houston used a 20-1 run to kill any upset threat. TEXAS TECH 85, RICE 84

Anthony Livingston made three free throws with 2.4 seconds left to give the Red Raiders a victory over the Owls in Lubbock.

Rice’s Connor Cashaw missed two free throws with 13 seconds left before Livingston attempted a 3-pointer in traffic and was fouled.

Livingston score a career-high 33 points for Texas Tech (7-1).

Mike Rodriguez converted four free throws in the final 1:11 to lift the Salukis to a come-frombehind win over the Tigers in Carbondale, Ill.

Dulani Robinson’s 3-pointer with 1:30 left gave Texas Southern the lead, 70-68. Robinson was whistled for a foul with 1:11 left, sending Rodri- guez to the line for two free throws. After making the first, Texas Southern was whistled for a technical foul, and Armon Fletcher converted one of two from the line, after which Rodriguez returned to hit the second of two. Rodriguez added two more from the line with eight seconds left.

Vlad Brodziansk­y scored 18 points, including seven straight for the Horned Frogs in a key second-half stretch, and TCU (8-0) remained unbeaten under Jamie Dixon with a win over the Red Wolves in Fort Worth.
