HomeAid Houston and Lennar/Village Builders announce their partnership for the construction of the second 8,100-square-foot cottage for Boys and Girls Country in Hockley. This building will house eight children from families in crisis.

Lennar/Village Builders will be the builder captain of the project, recruiting vendors and trades to donate to the construction and leading the project from start to finish.

Boys and Girls Country was established in 1971 as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charity whose mission is to change the lives of children from families in crisis by loving and nurturing them in a Christian home environment, raising them to become selfsustaining and contribut- ing adults. Children are from the greater Houston area, which includes 13 counties.

Located 35 miles northwest of Houston, Boys and Girls Country has capacity to serve 48 boys and 40 girls, ages 5-18, for a total of 88 children at any one time.

“Joining Lennar/Village Builders for this new project is a tremendous opportunity to continue the momentum we have experienced with the cottage HomeAid recently completed,” said Bette Moser, executive director of HomeAid. “We are excited to begin construction in early 2017.”

Since 1954, Lennar has been building new homes across the nation, earning a following of buyers. Lennar’s luxury brand of homes, Village Builders, has been a sign of success for generations of Texas families.

Lennar and Village Builders currently build homes in more than 80 Houston communities, with prices ranging from the high $100,000s to over $600,000.

“Lennar/Village Builders is grateful to HomeAid Houston for introducing us to Boys and Girls Country where children learn what it means to be surrounded by the love and comfort of home and family,” said Don Luke, division president. “Our team is honored to lead the con- struction on this worthwhile project and become more involved with the campus.”

HomeAid Houston is one of 17 HomeAid chapters in the country. Since 2003, HomeAid Houston has completed 36 construction projects for homeless agencies, totaling over $10 million in real estate value and adding more than 400 beds. Further details
