HomeAid receives support from Bank of America Foundation

-

The Bank of America Foundation and HomeAid Houston have been outreach partners within Houston’s homeless community for 10 years.

The foundation has donated funds to help construct numerous HomeAid projects, helping the agency achieve their mission “to build new lives for homeless families and individuals through housing and community outreach.”

Both organizations are deeply committed to improving the lives of the less fortunate to help them realize their potential as productive men, women, children and veterans.

HomeAid Houston, a 501 (c)(3) charity of the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA), is one of 16 chapters of the national organization. HomeAid Houston was established in 2003 to work with Houston homeless care providers to build and renovate transformational shelters. By partnering with GHBA builders, remodelers, developers and suppliers, HomeAid Houston is able to effectively multiply the impact of gifts provided by donors such as Bank of America.

Upcoming projects include an 8,100-square-foot cottage for homeless children at Boys and Girls Country, with builder captain Lennar/Village Builders; the creation of ‘Gracewood Village”, providing longer term housing for mothers and children, with David Weekley Homes; three HomeAid Care projects, serving homeless men who are HIV positive, young adults at risk of homelessness and girls who have been rescued from sex trafficking.

“Community development initiatives and revitalization efforts help improve access to affordable housing and foster sustainable growth in the Houston community,” said Hong Ogle, Houston-area president. “We’re proud to partner with nonprofit organizations like HomeAid Houston, and are honored to support their construction projects that will add new real estate to Houston’s homeless community, bringing hope and stability to over 120 homeless women and children.”

Bank of America is helping improve communities by addressing issues fundamental to economic health and sustainability. They address needs related to workforce development and education, community development, and basic needs. Volunteerism at Bank of America is also a strategic and comprehensive platform.

HomeAid joins other Bank of America Foundation recipients that include, Avenue CDC, Buffalo Bayou Partnership, the Chinese Community Center, the Credit Coalition, the Fifth Ward CRC, Habitat for Humanity Northwest Harris County, LISC of Greater Houston Neighborhood Centers Inc., Neighborhood Recovery CDC and New Hope Housing.
