Christmas comes early for Casa de Esperanza

-

In December, the Santa Tracker zeroed in on Casa de Esperanza de los Niños, an agency HomeAid has supported for several years as part of their mission, “to build new lives for homeless families and individuals through housing and community outreach.”

Santa’s elves were seen arriving in full holiday spirit with a special delivery of more than $6,000 worth of gift cards for the Casa children that were donated by members of the GHBA as part of the Associates Council’s annual Frank Aranza Adopt A Family holiday program that provides Christmas to needy families.

These elves were representatives from the GHBA’s Associates Council, Custom Builders Council (CBC), Remodelers Council (RMC) and HomeAid. HomeAid has worked on several remodeling projects for Casa in partnership with the CBC and the RMC.

Peggy Means, GHBA’s director of education — associate council staff liaison, presented the gift cards to Kathy Foster, founder of Casa de Esperanza. Also on hand for the special delivery was Megan Starnes with AllPoints Surveying Services; from HomeAid were Bette Moser, Sheri Douglass and Paige Shugart; and from the GHBA, Donna Buenik and Alisa Merritt.

“Adopt A Family is a special program that brings GHBA members together during Christmas to help the less fortunate,” Means said. “There is not a better time than the holidays to share these gifts with such deserving children.”

“Being able to deliver over $6,000 in gift cards to this valuable organization is a proud moment for everyone who has been involved with both Adopt A Family and the improvement projects that have been completed at Casa,” Moser said. “HomeAid thanks all who donated funds to make this a brighter Christmas for these kids.”

Casa de Esperanza strives to break the destructive cycle of child abuse by offering safe homes to children of families in crisis. The goal of Casa de Esperanza is to return physically and emotionally healthy children to stabilized homes where caregivers can safely provide daily care. Children receive comprehensive assessment and intervention services while in placement.

HomeAid Houston, a 501 (c)(3) charity of the Greater Houston Builders Association is one of 16 chapters of the national organization, HomeAid. HomeAid has completed more than 400 projects, providing beds for more than 5,000 homeless men, women and children in the United States. Further details
