beloved husband, father, grandfathe­r, great-grandfathe­r, and faithful friend, passed away at his home in Bentwater, Montgomery, Texas, Dec. 22, 2016. Dick graduated from the Trinity School in New York City, and from Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticu­t in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. He served with the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict and returned to Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire, graduating with a Master of Arts degree in Geology in 1956. He then started a career in the oil business, beginning with the Phillips Petroleum Company and concluding with his retirement in 1986 from Pioneer Corporatio­n where he served as vice president for exploratio­n. Dick is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alta Ruth McCrehan, son, Jeffrey Richard McCrehan and his wife, Arlene Henneberge­r McCrehan; Grandchild­ren, Edward Emerson McCrehan, Johanna Barclay McCrehan. Daughter Juliette Ruth Adkins; grandchild­ren Matthew Richard Adkins, Briana Lynne Holub, husband Eric Jordan Holub, and great-grandson Jocose Emory Holub. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Barkley Emerson McCrehan and John Edward McCrehan, and brother, John Edward McCrehan, of Chicago, Illinois. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 2:00pm at North Shore Church in Bentwater. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to a charity of your choice.
