Gloria O’Connor Miesch Shouse, 90, passed away Thursday, the 16th of February 2017, in Rockport, Texas.

Mrs. Shouse was born to Lawrence Wyer O’Connor and Mary Vivian O’Brien O’Connor in Victoria, Texas on the 16th of December 1926. She was a 4th Generation Irish immigrant, and part of the O’Connor Family Legacy of south Texas, having, remained in the ranching business throughout her life.

G.G. Shouse, will be remembered for her vibrant personalit­y, always being there to help those in need, and her spirit of endurance. She participat­ed in numerous charitable endeavors throughout her life. Unable to be of idle hands, she created hundreds of handmade afghan’s, for family, friend’s, children’s hospitals, and nursing homes. Since childhood, she was an avid doll collector with a collection from around the world. However, her most remarkable undertakin­g was dedicating a major portion of her life, to the creation of her own personal doll collection, replicatin­g in exact detail, the United States President with The First Ladies, in their inaugural ball gowns as preserved by the Smithsonia­n, at The National Museum of American History.

Mrs. Shouse is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Jack M. Miesch and Earl E. Shouse, her brother, Thomas M. O’Connor, her sister, Marie O’Connor Dunn Sorenson. She is survived by her children, Molly Miesch Walker, Laurie T. Miesch, Lacey Miesch, Jack Miesch, Janie Miesch Robertson, (Randy), Michael Miesch, and her stepsons, August Shouse, Earl Shouse, and stepdaught­er, Polly Shouse, and her nine grandchild­ren, seven step-grandchild­ren, and two great-grandchild­ren.

The Family would like to extend its gratitude to Nancy A. Cooke and Jean Johnson, her longtime friends and assistants, along with her exceptiona­l caregivers, Bunny Logan, Kristi Moore, Kathy Reyna, Mary Solis, and Jane Lapant, and the care and support of Hospice nurses, Christi Moore and Emily Whetstone.

The family will gather for a private service at a later date.
