Ann Cleere Owen, age 90, after a long protracted illness, went peacefully into that last good night on Saturday, the 25th of February 2017.

Ann was born in Madisonvil­le, Texas to James R. Cleere, Sr. and Mary Traylor Cleere on the 17th of October 1926. Ann was a graduate of North Texas State University and taught school in Madisonvil­le prior to her marriage in 1950 to Jack D. Owen. Since her marriage, she has been a lifelong resident of Houston. Ann loved the Lord and was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ.

Ann is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Jack D. Owen, her principal caregiver during the last 9 years of her life; and her two daughters, Kathy Ashmore and her husband Al Ashmore, and Nancy Weathers and her husband Gary Weathers. She is further survived by her brother, James R. Cleere Jr. of Madisonvil­le; and sister, Mary E. Durst of Bryan. Ann and Jack have been blessed with four grandchild­ren, Garrett Ashmore and his wife Kelli, of Katy, Reed Weathers his and wife Tasha, of Columbia, Maryland, Lauren Lunka and her husband Derek, of Salem, South Carolina, and Ryan Ashmore and his fiancée Traci Muscat, of Houston. They have been further blessed by eight wonderful greatgrand­children and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r and aunt who devoted her life to her family. She will be remembered for her tender loving care, gourmet cooking, and ability to make her family and friends feel special. She will be missed and ever remembered by all who knew her. Ann’s family extends their grateful thanks to her faithful caregivers, Cynthia Camacho, SanJuana Castillo, and Mary Woods for their devoted and loving care of Ann during her long illness. Special thanks also to niece Vicky Herrmann for her untiring aid and comfort during Ann’s final days.

Friends are cordially invited to greet the family during a memorial reception to he held from two o’clock until four o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday the 28th of February, in the grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.

At a later date, the family will gather for a private interment at the Tennessee Colony Community Cemetery in Anderson County, Texas

In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of one’s choice.
