WALTER CARL HIRSCH, JR. 1939-2017

Walter Carl Hirsch, Jr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, surrounded by his wife and children. He is survived by his wife, Violet Alms Hirsch; two children, Ginger Hirsch Needham and Brent Hirsch; and Ginger’s husband, David Needham and their three children, Lindsey, Jason, and Kaci. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Anna Hirsch.

He was born in Houston, Texas in 1939. He received a Master’s degree in chemistry and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston. He graduated from Lutheran High School in Houston, Texas. He worked as a Chemist testing moon rocks for the Apollo Program at NASA before setting up a tax business, which he ran until his death. Throughout his life, he made many friends in Houston as well as other places.

He will be remembered with love by his family, which includes his wife’s four children by her first marriage, their spouses, and her six grandchild­ren.

A funeral service will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church located at 5000 W. Tidwell Road, Houston, TX 77091. The service will begin at 11:00 am on Monday, April 3, 2017. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday at Our Savior prior to the church service. A Committal Service will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Clifton Cemetery, 4450 Hwy. 6, Clifton, TX 76634.
