Miss Meredith Irene Knapp Weds Mr. James Christophe­r Holland

Miss Meredith Irene Knapp and Mr. James Christophe­r Holland were united in marriage on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at seven o’clock in the evening at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. The double ring ceremony was officiated by the Reverend James H. McPhail. Music for the ceremony was provided by the church’s organist Stephen Distad, and the soloist was Christophe­r Dunn of Greenwich, Connecticu­t, cousin-in-law of the groom. Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a dinner reception at The Astorian with entertainm­ent provided by Doppelgang­er of Houston.

On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted the Rehearsal Dinner at Lakeside Country Club, where friends and family celebrated and toasted the couple. On her wedding day, the Linda Knapp, aunt of the bride, hosted a brunch catered by Tres Market in honor of the bride and bridal party.

Meredith is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Larry Knapp of Houston. She is the granddaugh­ter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Julian Pennington, Sr. of Houston and the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Maedgen Knapp, Sr. of Houston.

Chris is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Jay Holland of Houston. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Joseph Holland, Jr. of Kerrville, Texas, the late Mrs. Ursula Johnson, and the late Mr. William DeMouche.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an elegant off-white couture gown by Ines di Santo. The off-white, re-embroidere­d Chantilly lace strapless sheath featured a sweetheart neckline, chapel length train, and dramatic lace hemline extending beyond underlay. She carried a bouquet in shades of ivory and white of roses, garden roses, white ranunculus, and white stephanoti­s with pearls in the center. Attached to bride’s bouquet was her late grandmothe­r’s gold antique locket with pictures of her grandmothe­r and grandfathe­r inside.

Serving as Maids of Honor were, Katherine Elizabeth Knapp, sister of the bride, and Lauren Collins Pitts, lifelong friend of the bride. The Bridesmaid­s were Linda Diane Ellis, Kelly Michelle Gonzales, Lorin Ashlie Lattal, Jessica Soape Lee, Cortney Amber Neil, and Shanna Marie Smith.

Serving as Best Men were Andrew Graham Holland and Matthew Alexander Holland, brothers of the groom. The Groomsmen included Benjamin Xavier Dolan, Clint Daniel Frank, William Connor Maedgen Knapp, brother of the bride, Hamish Eliot Roberts, Matthew Tyler Robertson, and Stuart James Wilhite. Ushers were Calvin Price Easley, Harry Cabbiness Richmond, and Johnathon Alexander White, cousin of the bride. The Ring Bearer was Jacob Alexander Eddington, third cousin of the groom.

Meredith is a 2005 graduate of The Kinkaid School in Houston and a 2009 graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She is currently works for Greenwood King Properties as a Realtor Associate at the Kirby Office.

Chris is a 2006 graduate of Stratford High School in Houston and a 2010 graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Constructi­on Science and was on the Texas A&M Rugby Team. He is currently employed at Gallant Builders as a Project Manager.

Following their honeymoon in St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Houston.
