Chesmar vendors donate to GHBA Benefit home

-

Chesmar vendors and suppliers have stepped up to ensure construction of one of two Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA), Benefit Homes Project homes for 2017. The home is under construction in the new community of Elyson in west Houston. Newland Communities donated the homesite.

“We would not be able to fulfill our commitment to the two charities who are beneficiaries of this GHBA charity fundraiser, if it wasn’t for the generosity of the GHBA members,” said Don Klein, Chesmar CEO. “Our vendors are an example of the giving spirit that defines the home building industry in Houston and surrounding areas. We cannot thank them enough for all they give year after year.”

Vendors donating to Chesmar’s home include W.R. Watson Inc., TopBuild Home Services, Wayne Dalton, Garland Insulation, Bryant Electric, Geo-Tech Engineering, Modern System Concepts, Southwest Sales, Sprint Companies and AllPoints Services.

Chesmar is building its 2,733-square-foot Poplar plan. When the home is sold at market value, proceeds will be presented to HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home.

The home in Elyson will be the fifth Benefit home built by Chesmar and this will be the second lot donated by Newland.

The two-story Poplar plan is from Chesmar’s Arbor Collection and features four bedrooms and three full baths. Common areas have an open design. Two bedrooms on the second floor and a game room provide plenty of space options.

The first-floor master suite, with its bath and walk-in closet, offers convenience as well as privacy. The home design also includes a secondary bedroom on the first floor with a full bath.

The home has a covered rear patio and a two-car garage. The interior also features a fireplace with an alder mantel, iron stairway spindles, granite countertops in the kitchen and baths, stainless-steel appliances, under-cabinet lighting and pendant lighting in the kitchen. There are wood floors in the entry, family room, dining room and the stairs. The exterior is a combination of brick and stone.

Elyson is the fifth and newest community in the Katy Independent School District by Newland Communities, one of the largest private developers of planned residential and urban mixed-use communities in the United States.

Located at Grand Parkway and FM 529, approximately midway between I-10 west and U.S. 290 west, the 3,642acre community will be home to 6,000 households and will offer 750 acres of recreational amenities and natural open spaces when completed.
