Trump faces new low for popularity, rolls back clean air act
On Monday — and on the heels of the failed Obamacare repeal — news broke that President Donald Trump’s popularity had hit a new low, for him personally and all other presidents, at 37 percent. It would continue to fall throughout the week. It also was reported that Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, would be testifying before the Senate Intelligence Committee, which is investigating the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia.
On Tuesday, Trump signed an executive order that plans to roll back Clean the Power Obama Plan, administration’sthe former administration’s legacy action to combat climate change. Also on Tuesday, it was revealed that the White House allegedly was trying to prevent former acting Attorney General Sally Yates from testifying before the panel. Yates was the one to inform the White House of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn’s duplicity. Speaking of Flynn, his lawyer said he was willing to talk if he got immunity. The letter sent by Flynn’s lawyer was a veiled threat at the Trump administration.
On Thursday, Trump declared war on the Freedom Caucus, pledging to do whatever he could to unseat the conservative faction that downed the health care repeal. He also announced support for the House bill to repeal internet privacy protections. The privacy protections were approved in the final days of the Obama administration and haven’t gone into effect.
