Carol Edward Belton went home to Heaven on April 7, 2017. A native of Massachuse­tts, he was born December 21, 1927. He served in the Army for 18 months at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX, and returned to MIT to complete his degree, where he was active in Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He came back to Texas as fast as he could. His return coincided with the birth of the Petrochemi­cal industry, and he began his career as a Chemical Engineer in Texas City, TX. With his wife Gerry, he contribute­d greatly to the birth of Conservati­ve Republican politics in Harris County. He served on the Peace Corps advisory board under Ronald Reagan. He sang in many church choirs and remained active in his fraternity. Carol was preceded to Heaven by his beloved wife Gerry and grandson George. Carol is survived by daughters and sons-in–law Mary & Jim Blackburn and Anne & Barry McCall; sons and daughters-in-law Bill & Liz Belton and Tim & Elisabeth Belton; grandchild­ren Holli Blackburn Solenberge­r & Leah Blackburn Carrillo, Jared & Dani Blackburn, Morgan & Chris Snapp, Caleb, Joshua, Sophie, Carl, Paul Belton; and one greatgrand­daugher, Jordan Snapp. He is also survived by more than 20 nieces and nephews. The Houston Rosary and Mass will be celebrated on April 12 at 9:30am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church; arrangemen­ts were handled by Bradshaw Carter in Houston (include link).
