Cubs rally to top Red Sox

BOSTON — Anthony Rizzo hit a two-run homer, and Miguel Montero and Ben Zobrist had solo shots, helping the Chicago Cubs rebound from a series-opening loss with a 7-4 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Saturday.

Kris Bryant had two hits and scored twice for Chicago, backing a decent start by former Red Sox righty John Lackey.

Lackey (2-3) gave up four runs in six innings, snapping his string of losses in three straight starts.

Steven Wright (1-3) gave up five runs and seven hits in 61 innings. A WHITE SOX 6, TIGERS 4 (10): Melky Cabrera led off the 10th inning with a solo homer off Justin Wilson and Avisail Garcia added an RBI triple, lifting Chicago over host Detroit for its sixth straight win. A RANGERS 6, ANGELS 3: Carlos Gomez’s seventh-inning home run gave him his second career cycle, and Yu Darvish allowed two runs in six innings while throwing 125 pitches as Texas beat visiting Los Angeles. A ROCKIES 7, DIAMONDBAC­KS 6: Mark Reynolds singled in the tying runs with two outs and the bases loaded in the top of the ninth, then scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch to give Colorado a victory at Arizona. A YANKEES 12, ORIOLES 4: Brett Gardner, Aaron Judge and a thundering New York squad picked up right where they left off the previous night, rolling past visiting Baltimore for its fourth straight victory. A INDIANS 4, MARINERS 3: Danny Salazar got off to a rocky start, then combined with two relievers to hold visiting Seattle hitless over the final eight innings and give Cleveland the win. A PIRATES 4, MARLINS 0: Ivan Nova pitched a three-hitter as Pittsburgh won at Miami. John Jaso homered and drove in two runs for the Pirates, winners of three straight. A BLUE JAYS 4, RAYS 1: Justin Smoak had three hits, including a two-run homer, and Toronto beat visiting Tampa Bay to end a three-game losing streak. A METS 5, NATIONALS 3: Michael Conforto hit two home runs, and slumping Jose Reyes also connected, leading New York to a win at Washington. A BRAVES 11, BREWERS 3: Matt Kemp homered three times and drove in five runs, helping surging Atlanta pound host Milwaukee. From wire reports
