Westin Homes, GHBA break ground for charity effort
Westin Homes has teamed up with the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) to build one of two homes for the GHBA’s annual fundraiser, the Benefit Homes Project. Westin is constructing their Carter III Plan in the new community of Lago Mar off 45 in the Clear Lake and Galveston corridor.
Westin is donating construction management and Land Tejas, the developer of Lago Mar, donated the homesite. Westin has recruited their vendors and suppliers to donate materials, labor and services. The homes are sold at market value and proceeds benefit local charities. This year the Benefit Homes Project benefits HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home. Since the Project began 37 years ago, nearly $10 million has been raised.
Westin’s 4,019-squarefoot Carter III B elevation plan will include five bedrooms (two on the first floor), 4½ bathrooms and a two-car garage with five additional feet which can be used for extra storage or a convenient workshop. The grand foyer offers a view of the triple-tiered rotunda ceiling and curved stairway. The home includes a formal dining room, study and a two-story family room that features a wall of windows. The epicurean island kitchen with upgraded cabinets and breakfast area is the heart of the home. The private master suite will include a double-tiered tray ceiling with no bedrooms above. Upstairs is a game room and adjacent media room. Outside the rear of the home is a covered patio.
“With over 20 years of building homes in the Houston area, Westin recognizes the importance of giving back to the community that has awarded us such prosperity over the years,” said Patrick Mayhan, vice president, purchasing. “When we were approached by the GHBA to participate in the Benefit Homes Project, we immediately jumped at the chance. The Westin team shares a giving spirit and understands how important it is to give back through the industry in which we work. We could not be more pleased to help contribute to two such outstanding organizations as HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home.”
Westin Homes has built their reputation as a high quality builder in prime communities in Houston and surrounding areas.
“Westin’s focus has always been about customer satisfaction, architectural design and attention to detail,” said Will Holder, chairman of the Project. “They are true professionals in the industry, and their generosity reflects their commitment to both their home buyer and the community.”
Construction is well under way on a second Benefit home. Chesmar is constructing its 2,733-squarefoot Poplar plan in the west Houston community of Elyson off Grand Parkway and FM 529. Newland Communities donated the site.
