HomeAid will benefit from DPIS fundraiser
HomeAid Houston, a 501 (c)(3) charity of the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA), is for the second year the beneficiary of a crawfish boil that is being hosted by DPIS Engineering. Last year, the event called “Pinchin’ Tails for HomeAid Houston,” raised approximately $20,000 for HomeAid’s mission, “to build new lives for homeless families and individuals through housing and community outreach.”
DPIS Engineering, a member of the GHBA, is no rookie when it comes to handling crawfish. The company has hosted several successful crawfish boils over the past few years, but 2016 was the first “Pinchin’ Tails for HomeAid Houston” charity event. “This event has grown so big, that this year we’ve added a second day specifically to thank the sponsors,” said Brannon King with DPIS. “We are grateful to OnTarget Marketing and Advertising for sponsoring this additional day, and we look forward to raising valuable funds to help further HomeAid’s cause.” The event is open to the public on May 5, from 5-11 p.m. at 1600 Hufsmith, Tomball, with a $15 entry fee.
DPIS and dozens of volunteers organize the fundraiser that will include team competition for the best crawfish, étouffée, jambalaya and cocktail sauce recipes. The band Stringbenders will be performing.
“This event is a way for folks in our industry to get together for a fun competition and to also give back to a community that has supported our business for years,” said Dale Philips, president of DPIS Engineering. “We were thrilled to have HomeAid as the beneficiary again this year, as we see the valuable work they do for Houston’s homeless.”
HomeAid Houston was started in 2003, and the first shelter was dedicated in 2005. Since then, 42 projects have been completed, adding more than 437 beds and $12.6 million in real estate construction and improvements to Houston’s homeless community. Annually, HomeAid’s projects serve more than 5,000 homeless men, women, children and veterans in Houston.
