Richard Thomas Sullivan passed away peacefully on May 1, 2017 in Houston, Texas.

Richard (Rick) was born November 5, 1946 in Patterson, New Jersey, to Ingeborg Agnes (Heil) and Bernard Michael Sullivan. Rick moved to Houston after graduating from Manchester Regional High School to attend the University of Saint Thomas, where he earned his BA in 1969. He then earned his BSN in Anesthesia in 1978 as part of the first graduating class from The University of Texas School of Allied Health Sciences at Houston. He started his career in the Houston Medical Center and retired from St. John Hospital in Nassau Bay, Texas, in 2014. He enjoyed being with friends at The Gulf Coast Club and the San Jacinto Corvette Club. He also enjoyed coaching little league baseball, road trips, and sitting on the deck watching his children play on the beach.

Rick is survived by his wife of 46 years, Darlene; daughter, Patricia Ann and her daughter, Olive; sons, John Thomas and Michael Scott, all of Houston, TX; brother, James and his wife Joyce, of Dennis Port, MA; and numerous other loving relatives and a host of friends.

The family would like to thank all the dedicated doctors and nurses of the Methodist Hospital System, Medical Clinic of Houston, and Houston Hospice for their knowledge, help, and care.

Friends are invited to a memorial gathering from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet St., Bellaire, TX. A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 18, 2017 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10330 Hillcroft St., Houston, TX 77096. A private burial will be held at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson, TX.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Rick to the American Cancer Society.
