Market stays strong
Houston’s real estate market continues to go strong.
“We have had another favorable month for Houston’s real estate market, as the statistics for April indicate,” said Wade Knight, Realtor with Martha Turner Sotheby’s International Realty.
Realtors in the Houston area saw higher numbers than they have seen since August, in home sales for single family homes.
“In April, we saw the largest gains in sales in the Luxury Market, in homes priced at $750,000 and above. Homes priced from $250,000 to $500,000 are still moving favorably. April was the sixth consecutive month of positive rising sales,” Knight said.
Houston Association of Realtors website, www.har. com, reported 6,583 single family homes sold in April, compared to 6,387 a year ago. This represents a 3.1 percent increase.
Knight said there are only three reasons your home may not be selling as fast as desired: location, condition — both inside and out — and price. Overpriced listings only help homes that are priced right.
“A home or property is only worth what a buyer is willing to pay for it. Please do not be upset at buyers sending you lower offers than you want; be upset when buyers not sending you offers. If your house is priced right, it will sell,” Knight said.
Our local economy in Houston overall shows growth and increase. The Texas Workforce Commission reported 13,300 new jobs in our city in March alone. Houston continues to be a popular city drawing people here.
“Besides the hot summers, people move here now and stay. Houston is also home to many fortune 500 companies. Comparatively, Houston is still considered to be a very affordable city for housing. Our international diversity here brings money, culture and buyers to and throughout the city,” Knight said.
