Distrust and concern

-

Regarding “Secrecy surrounding Senate health bill raises alarms for GOP and Democrats” (Page A11, Friday), the GOP in both houses of Congress are selling folks Obamacare-repeal acts that should more rightly be called “Wealthcare” bills. The sole purpose of these bills is wealth transfer, from the poor to the upper 1 percent.

Both bills were and have been constructed secretly. There have not been, nor will there be, any public hearings for input by patients, doctors, nurses or hospitals — although it is rumored that K Street insurance lobbyists have been consulted. Once finally introduced, there will not be any chance for any amendments by concerned representatives of the people.

The Senate version is currently being written behind closed doors. If they weren’t ashamed of it, why do it in the dark?

The GOP Senate leadership is unconcerned about this clandestine process because they say they aren’t hearing any outcry from the public about it. So if you want to weigh in about this process or about a law that will effect one-sixth of the nation’s economy and your own future health, call, write, fax, email and/ or visit your senator’s offices.
