Officer not hurt after suspect shoots at him

-

A Houston police officer was unharmed after a suspect opened fire at him early Saturday, hitting the windshield of his cruiser.

“Some people say luck. I say blessed,” Executive Assistant Chief Troy Finner said at the scene.

A bullet went through the window of the sergeant’s cruiser. He had minor injuries from the windshield glass and possibly bullet fragments but is OK, authorities said.

Two suspects allegedly carjacked a couple at a park in the 11100 block of Windmark around 3 a.m. Police located the car about 30 minutes later in the 7600 block of Highway 6 near Beechnut.

The suspects stopped at a Shell service station, where a passenger got out and started firing at the patrol car.

The police sergeant was able to get both suspects into custody without returning fire.

“These types of individuals are definitely dangerous. If they’re shooting at police officers, they’ll shoot at other people,” Finner said.

The two in custody may be serial robbery suspects, Finner said.
