Protests rage over Venezuelan constitution
A few thousand protesters attempted to reach Venezuela’s Supreme Court before clashing with national guardsmen on Saturday, just days before President Nicolas Maduro launches the rewriting of the country’s constitution. The opposition held a nationwide strike on Thursday. Throughout the week, the international community, including President Donald Trump, called on Maduro to halt his plans to rewrite the constitution, but he hasn’t bowed to international pressure. Maduro claims it will solve the political standoff and dire economy.
