ATLANTA BRAVES

The Braves placed outfielder Matt Kemp on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.

The club also recalled outfielder Lane Adams from Class AAA Gwinnett.

The 32-year-old Kemp was injured as he rounded first base after hitting a liner off the wall in the fourth inning of Friday night’s 10-3 loss to the Phillies.

In 88 games, he is batting .290 with 14 homers and 48 RBIs.

OAKLAND ATHLETICS

The Athletics pushed back Sonny Gray’s next scheduled start until after Monday afternoon’s trade deadline.

Gray has been the subject of much trade speculation. He was supposed to pitch Sunday against Minnesota, but now is set to throw against San Francisco on Monday night. That game would be hours after teams must conclude any deals without waivers.

The move is ostensibly to give the 27-year-old righthander, along with the rest of the team’s starting rotation, an extra rest day that organization believes pitchers need.

Gray is 6-5 with a 3.43 ERA. He’s 4-2 with a 1.38 ERA over his last six starts.

ST. LOUIS CARDINALS

Hall of Fame outfielder Lou Brock says he is free of cancer more than three months after the 78-yearold announced he had been diagnosed with a type of blood cancer.

Brock said in a statement Friday that a doctor’s diagnosis that he had conquered multiple myeloma was “the greatest news ever.” He credited God and thanked family, friends and fans for their support, saying he remained hopeful.

SEATTLE MARINERS

Right fielder Mitch Haniger was hit in the face by a 95 mph fastball from Mets starter Jacob deGrom in the second inning Saturday.

Haniger was down in the batter’s box for a couple minutes, then was able to walk off the field with blood dripping from his mouth.

He suffered a cut in his mouth and was taken offsite for further examination.
