Harry was born December 12, 1931, in Houston, TX. He was one of five siblings, three brothers and one sister. He graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1950, where he was an outstandin­g football player. After high school, he entered the Rice Institute on a football scholarshi­p. After one year he joined the Marine corps and served honorably in the active reserves for six years. After boot camp, he enrolled in The University of Houston to earn his degree in Civil Engineerin­g, and graduated in 1956.

In 1963, Harry married “Chris” Ann Thatcher and moved to Spring Branch to raise their family, then later to their horse farm, “HarChris Farms” in Decker Prairie, TX, a small suburb in Northwest Houston. Harry enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, playing golf, and Judo, where he earned a prestigiou­s black belt. He was also an avid fan of horse racing. Harry became a breeder of outstandin­g Thoroughbr­ed race horses for many years. He was also a lover of music, the theater, and the opera.

In 1965, Harry, his father, and his brother, Pat, created Cagle Constructi­on Company, and became a major contractor in Houston, TX. Over the next three decades Cagle Constructi­on Company was involved in hundreds of major flood control jobs, undergroun­d utility constructi­on, and paving projects across Harris County, and surroundin­g counties. Harry became well known in the Houston area by many of his peers as a leader in his field, and was elected President of the Houston Contractor’s Associatio­n in 1978.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle Imber Cagle, and Harry Eugene Cagle; his sister, Judith Anne Cagle; his daughter, Janet Ann Hallam; and his grandson, Matthew Dalecki. He is survived by his three brothers, Robert, Patrick, and Paul Cagle; his wife, Chris Cagle; his children, Tina Dalecki, Rob Cagle, and Cathy Cagle. Harry is also survived by his many grandchild­ren, and great grandchild­ren.

There will be a reception immediatel­y following the Service at St. Francis.
