Amenity-filled Stablewood home an oasis close to city

- By Lisa Zapalac

Located in the gated, close-in Memorial neighborhood of Stablewood, this home on an oversized cul-de-sac lot is surrounded by pristine grounds that include outdoor living and entertaining areas, a pool and a sport court.

Listing agent Randall Doe with Heritage Texas Properties, Post Oak Park, said the traditional-style home is in a sought-after location.

With more than 6,200 square feet of living space, the two-story design begins with a front entry adorned by antique brick and Pennsylvania Blue flagstone on the sidewalk and porch. Inside, a two-story foyer with marble floors and custom trim work offers immediate views of the staircase, study and the formal dining room. Just off the entry is a refrigerated wine room/ storage area.

French doors open to the study with a marble surround fireplace accented by stained bookcases and millwork. Located between the study and family room is a wet bar area complete with glass cabinets and a beverage cooler. Easily accommodating large gatherings, the formal dining room has crown molding, a faux-painted ceiling and hardwood floors.

Abundant storage and work space is available in the large kitchen that includes a center island, a six-burner (plus griddle) Viking cooktop, a Sub-Zero refrigerator, two dishwashers, double ovens and a warming drawer.

The breakfast area has a built-in desk and expansive windows overlooking the backyard.

With access to the kitchen as well as the foyer, study and back patio, the family room is spacious and open and showcases double crown molding, and built-ins surrounding the gas-log fireplace, including rope-lit bookcases and media storage, and a Control 4 System, which serves the entire home, controlling lights and music.

A long hallway off the family room leading to the private master suite has a wall of built-ins on one side and a wall of windows and a door opening to the back patio on the other.

A faux-painted raised ceiling, custom draperies and hardwood floors enhance the master bedroom, which has a large window overlooking the backyard and fountain. The master suite includes two bathrooms that share an area with a shower, a large soaking tub and a vanity. Additionally, both bathrooms have private water closets and walk-in closets.

Upstairs are four bedrooms with en-suite baths and oversized walk-in closets. The second floor also includes a large game room and media room. The game room has access to a full bath and the front and back stairs. Located off the game room is a large balcony with a retractable awning that overlooks the pool and backyard. The media room has plantation shutters, built-in cabinetry, two closets and storage for equipment.

The home’s fifth bedroom is currently being used as a second study and Doe said it could also function as a second master suite.

Outside are multiple gathering/entertaining areas. Overlooking the backyard is the large covered patio with quartzite decking, a summer kitchen and plenty of space for seating and dining.

The backyard features beautiful landscaping, a pool and spa with programmable lighting, multiple water features, a cantilevered custom pergola, and a large sport court on the north side of the property.

With five bedrooms, six full baths and two halfbaths, this home is priced at $2,995,000.
