Social calendar updates
Traditionally, the fall social season revs up after Labor Day. In light of Hurricane Harvey, however, many of Houston’s most prominent luncheons, galas and cocktail soirées have canceled, postponed or shifted the focus of their fundraisers. Here’s the latest charity news; update those Google calendars accordingly.

Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse
Home Safe Home Gala 7 p.m. Oct. 5 at Crystal Ballroom at the Rice Update: Portion of proceeds will benefit AVDA’s Victim Relief fund, an emergency fund for clients impacted by Hurricane Harvey, as victims of domestic violence are particularly vulnerable during times of crisis.
