Miss Mary Elizabeth Cleveland Weds Mr. Hunter Parramore Wakefield

Miss Mary Elizabeth Cleveland and Mr. Hunter Parramore Wakefield were united in marriage on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at half past six o’clock in the evening at Broadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. The double ring ceremony was officiated by the Reverend Reagan Cocke of the Church of St. John the Divine in Houston, Texas. Dinner and dancing followed at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth with music provided by the European Ensemble String Quartet of Dallas, Texas, and Yacht Rock Revue of Atlanta, Georgia. On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Colonial Country Club of Fort Worth.

Scripture was read by Conor McEvily and a Wallace Stevens poem was read by Isabel Kerr Schulte. Patrick Yarborough read the Prayer of St. Francis. “The Lord’s Prayer” and “All Day, All Night” were performed by Soloist Jeff Newton.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Glen Cleveland of Fort Worth, Texas. She is the granddaugh­ter of Mr. Gene Howard Hull and the late Mrs. Mary Marcelle Hamer Hull; and Mr. and Mrs. William Daniel Cleveland of Houston, Texas.

The groom is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Neal Wakefield of Houston, Texas. He is the grandson of the late Mrs. Patti Hunter Moody and the late Mr. Charles Warner Moody, Junior, of Houston, Texas; and the late Mr. and Mrs. Neal Edward Wakefield of Wharton, Texas.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a striking Mira Zwillinger pale grey organza gown. Adorned with white guipure lace flowers and intricate bead work, the gown featured an illusion neckline and open back, with a full A-line skirt that fell into a soft circular chapel train. To complete the look, the bride chose a cathedral length silk tulle veil. She carried a teardrop cascade bouquet of garden roses, ranunculus, dahlia, and lisanthus.

Maid of honor was the bride’s sister, Anne Carole Cleveland of Fort Worth, Texas. Bridesmaid­s were Chelsea Keeton Carrington, Christine Cha- Sartori, Mary Wakefield Newall,sister of the groom, Tallent Paty Ricca, Andrea Lauren Penedo and Alejandra Santa of Houston, Texas; Jenna Barzelay, Alix Milne and Margaret Sutherland Brown of Brooklyn, New York; Isabel Casteleiro Cottrell, Sydney Joan Paul and Janie Wise Thompson of Washington, D.C.; Genelle Timberlake Sanders of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Brookner Barnhardt Thompson Zunka of Corvallis, Oregon.

Serving as best man was the groom’s brother, Neal Edward Wakefield of New York, New York. Groomsmen were Ralph Brown Abendshein, Scott Michael Bayer, Benjamin William Cleveland, brother of the bride, Conor Paul McEvily, Kenneth Rowe Burroughs, Stephen Kyle Fox, Lloyd Robert French IV, Thomas Barron Hensley, Parker Upshur Mears, Robert Whitney Mears, Charles “Carlos” Edward Newall, brother-in-law of the groom, and Nicholas Lawrence Senkel of Houston, Texas; Benjamin Frank Barnes of Austin, Texas; John Andrew Cleveland, brother of the bride, of Fort Worth, Texas; Michael Edwards Boxberger of Dallas, Texas; and William Dortch Wallace of Utica, New York. Ushers were Rogers Lacy Crain, Jr., and John Benjamin Schulte of Houston, Texas.

Liz is a graduate of Trinity Valley School in Fort Worth, Texas. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Sewanee: the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston Law Center in Houston, Texas. She is currently an associate attorney with the Houston office of Foster LLP, where she practices corporate immigratio­n law.

The groom attended Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia; and graduated from Episcopal High School in Houston, Texas. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He earned his Juris Doctorate from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas, and will complete his LLM-Masters of Law degree at the University of Houston Law Center in December 2017. He is currently an attorney in Houston with Toeppich and Associates, where he practices energy law.

Following a honeymoon in the Spanish Basque Country and Rioja, the couple will reside in Houston, Texas.
