What not to miss during Texas Antiques Week

A big draw is the venerable Marburger Farm Antique Show, in its 20th year, where vendors from across the country sell European antiques, as well as Texas pieces and Americana. Prices might be high, but ideas are free.

Warrenton is another favorite. Stop into the Campbell Building and say hello to show manager Robin Lindberg. No matter how hectic it is, she’ll make you feel welcome as you check out the fine estate jewelry, Bakelite, garden furniture and shabbychic decorator items.

3

If you love flow blue, check out La Bahia Antiques in the historical 1879 La Bahia Dance Hall on Texas 237 near Burton. Dealers from across Texas sell architectural antiques, primitives, pottery, linens and estate jewelry.

4

The Junk Gypsies have set up their world headquarters — in other words, a temple of junk — at 1215 Texas 237 in Round Top. Sisters Amie and Jolie Sikes, of the reality show “Junk Gypsies,” welcome shoppers to a kidfriendly, country-music-filled store offering a cornucopia of vintage and new clothing and collectibles.

Bud’s Chocolate Chip Pie (Oh My Pie!) at Royer’s Round Top Cafe is divine. The old country cafe is at 105 Main; reservations are required during Antiques Week; 979249-3611. Yes, it’s time for an antiques road trip. Go on a weekday or early on the weekend; the traffic snaking down Texas 237 may remind you of Houston at rush hour.
