Vendors step up with donations for Westin’s 2017 Benefit home

-

It takes dozens of vendors and suppliers to donate materials and labor to build a Benefit Homes Project home for the Greater Houston Builders Association. Two or three Benefit homes are built every year to raise funds for two charities, HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home.

Westin Homes’ vendors, led by Patrick Mayhan, vice president of purchasing for Westin, is continuing to add vendors to his growing list, who are making a difference.

Westin Homes is building their Carter III plan on a lot in Lago Mar, a growing community in the Kemah/Galveston corridor. Lago Mar’s developer, Land Tejas, donated the homesite. Since this GHBA charity fundraiser began, $10 million has been raised.

“As we began to prepare to build the Benefit home, knowing that we maintain very strong working relationships and communication lines with our vendors and suppliers, the response Westin received from them in terms of involvement and generosity was overwhelming and very quick,” said Mayhan. “These companies generously donate their time, goods, and services over the years to multiple GHBA-sponsored projects such as the Benefit Homes Project, and they appreciate the importance and impact their contributions to those less fortunate have made.”

The Benefit homes traditionally offer popular upgrades and stylish amenities that help ensure a custom-style design. The suppliers who make this happen are well-known names, both locally and some nationally. They include Southwest Sales, Vortens, Insinkerator, Rheem, Southern Front Door, Concept Engineering, Sprint Sand & Clay, Perfection Wholesale Supply, Cast Fireplaces, Stewart Door Corp., Kwikset Corp., Brown’s Inspection Services, Burgess Consultants, Henderson Landscaping, Beale Corp., Merit Professional Services, HomePro Inc., Allpoints Land Surveying, AHI and The Ark.

Westin Homes’ 4,019-square-foot Carter III B plan includes five bedrooms (with two on the first floor), 4½ baths and a two-car garage with 5 additional feet. The foyer offers a view of the triple-tiered rotunda ceiling and curved stairway.

The home offers a formal dining room, study and a two-story family room with a wall of windows. The island kitchen with upgraded cabinets and a breakfast area is the heart of the home. The private master suite has a double-tiered tray ceiling with no bedrooms above for a quiet setting. Upstairs is a game room and adjacent media room. Outside the rear of the home is a covered patio.
