Motorist sought after pedestrian hit, killed
Police are searching for a motorist who struck and killed a man Saturday morning on the North Freeway and then left the scene.
Two people were involved in a single-car accident around 3:20 a.m. on Interstate 45 North at Beltway 8, said Houston police Sgt. Thomas Fendia. The two got out of their car and began walking northbound. One of them saw a disabled vehicle and began to cross the freeway. He was struck and thrown about 30 yards and died at the scene.
The other person involved in the original single-vehicle accident was not hurt but acknowledged to police that he and the driver had both been drinking.
The driver who struck the man on the freeway did not stop. Police do not have a clear description of the vehicle and are talking with witnesses.
