THE WOODLANDS SHOW CHORUS
This internationally-placed chorus is searching for additional singers as they prepare for their next international contest in St. Louis, MO in the fall of 2018. TWSC began just five years ago, as the largest and fastest chartering chorus in Sweet Adelines history. They are hosting an Open House on Monday, Oct. 23, at their regular rehearsal hall for interested singers. The open house is from 6:30 to 10 p.m. in the Atrium at Grace Crossing Church, 105 FM 1488 (just west of I-45), The Woodlands, TX 77384. WRITING
WRITERS IN PERFORMANCE SERIES Writers in Performance announces its fall 2017 schedule of readings. The Oct. 19 event features Bruce Bond at 7 p.m. The event is at Building G-102, Lone Star College-Montgomery. Following the reading and Q& A, there will be a book signing. Bruce Bond is the author of fifteen books including, most recently, For the Lost Cathedral (LSU Press, 2015) and The Other Sky (Etruscan Press, 2015). Four of his books are forthcoming: Immanent Distance: Poetry and the Metaphysics of the Near at Hand (University of Michigan Press), Black Anthem (Tampa Review Prize, University of Tampa Press), Gold Bee (Crab Orchard Open Competition Award, Southern Illinois University Press), and Sacrum (Four Way Books). He has received numerous honors including the Allen Tate Award, the New South Award, the Knightville Poetry Award, the Richard Peterson Prize, and fellowships from the NEA and the Texas Commission on the Arts. Presently he is Regents Professor at University of North Texas and Poetry Editor for American Literary Review.
