CAROLYN ETTA GRAYSON

1954-2017

-

In loving memory of Carolyn Grayson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and Aunt, we acknowledge and share both our joy in the gift that her life was to us, and the pain that her passing brings. In sharing the joy and the pain together, may we lessen the pain and remember more clearly the joy.

Carolyn was only 63 when she passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. We wish that we had more time.

Carolyn was born in Bryan, Texas on April 19, 1954. Always wanting a family of her own, she married young to Steve Brooks, and the two had four children together. She later gained another son to love through her marriage to Richard Grayson on August 28, 1993.

While juggling the responsibilities of being a full time mother of five and working full time, Carolyn obtained her degree in business from Le Tourneau University. She continued to work at A1 Construction Services for over 20 years, while also helping to develop Primeco Fence where she was a partner.

Carolyn’s passion was her family. She was affectionately known as the Matriarch to most of the family, and Magga to her twelve grandchildren. She especially loved spending time with her husband, Richard, at their ranch in Bedias, Texas.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Ken and Erma Smith, and her granddaughter, Olivia Winter Brooks. She leaves behind her husband of 24 years, Richard; five children, Tricia and husband David Balmos, Stacie and husband Josh Fowler, Steve and wife Kelly Brooks, Sherri and husband Jimmy Nieto, and Ryan and wife Steffany Grayson; her grandchildren Chase, Erica, and Brandon Balmos; Fred, Hope Carolyn, and Joe Fowler; Avery and Emma Brooks; Audra and Justin Nieto; Kaytee Jarvis and Mikey Grayson; all her siblings, Karen Anderson, Kenny Smith, Nita Horn, and Bobby Smith, plus a host of extended family members and friends.

A service is planned for Monday, October 16, 2017 at 10:00 am at Champion Forest Baptist Church – Jersey Village, 16518 Jersey Drive, Houston, TX 77040. Burial service at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery to follow.

Pallbearers for the service are Kenneth Harrison, Kenneth Grayson, Dwayne Grayson, Dwain Anderson, Matt Anderson, Ryan Horn, Logan Horn, and Bob Heslep.
