Bradley (Brad) B. Horton, 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2017 after a serious illness. Brad was born in Harvey, IL on April 1, 1937, to LeRoy and Selena Horton. After receiving his Mechanical Engineerin­g degree from the University of Urbana-Champaign, he worked many years for M.W. Kellogg, building oil refineries and chemical plants in countries around the world, including China, Indonesia, Venezuela, and Mexico.

He met the love of his life, Keiko Cho, at a Thank God It’s Sunday (TGIS) single’s group meeting at the Memorial Drive Presbyteri­an Church. They spent more than 25 wonderful years together ballroom, country western & square dancing, attending Houston Symphony concerts and art exhibition­s and traveling to places, such as Canada, London, Paris, Italy, and Spain.

Brad had a lifelong passion for philately and collected government-issued postal cards from all over the world. He served on the Board of Directors of the United Postal Stationery Society for many years and was an active member of the Houston Philatelic Society. He has also participat­ed as an exhibitor in philatelic shows, winning many awards for his outstandin­g exhibits.

He is survived by wife, Keiko; son Pagogh Cho; grandsons, Grant & Colin Cho; sister, Barbara Hartman and nephew, Brian Hartman. The family also expresses its deepest gratitude for the extraordin­ary care received from caregivers of Home Instead, particular­ly Gwen, Linda & Shun.

A celebratio­n-of-life service will be held on Saturday, October 21 at 11 a.m. at the Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet St., Bellaire, TX. A reception celebratin­g Brad’s life will follow immediatel­y after the service.

To honor his memory, in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice.
