KEN SANDERS

1938-2017

-

On July 29, 1938, Denton Lee and Ima Jean Sanders brought Ken Sanders into this world. His life journey began in Wheeler, TX but he attended school and graduated in nearby Pampa. The TX Panhandle molded Ken’s values and work ethic, forming the basis for his success at West TX State in Canyon. He had a successful business career in places as diverse as CT, WVA, WI, CA and finally back in TX.

Ken Sanders and his wife, Joyita, moved to Huffman, TX in 1998. They built a home for themselves and the Paso Fino horses for which he had a passion for almost four decades. Ken’s life in Huffman influenced many including the horse enthusiasts he mentored. His energy and ideals helped form the Commons Equestrian Association and the TX Paso Fina Horse Association.

He is survived by his wife Jo, son Mack and wife Christine, daughter Beth and husband Ken Smith, son Kirk, brother Dwayne and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held at 4:00 on Sunday, October 22, at the home he and his wife shared. Memorial contributions in Ken’s honor may be made to New Beginnings Paso Fino Rescue, 29009 N. 152nd Dr, Surprise, Arizona 85387.

To paraphrase an old saying; Ken Sanders was not a perfect man but in a perfect world, there would be Ken Sanders. We will miss his counsel and fervor for life
