Get ready for family fun at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion with a few major holiday entertainment events left this season.
“These last few events are some of our favorites here at The Pavilion,” said Jerry MacDonald, president and CEO of The Pavilion. “We are always excited to offer fun and captivating programs such as these that so closely align with our mission of providing not only a diverse offering of performing arts but educational outreach initiatives and performance opportunities as well.”
CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL
As the community begins to think about Turkey in preparation for Thanksgiving, Public Relations and Educational Outreach Manager Ashley Gravois encourages families to start planning for a wild time at the upcoming 22nd Annual Children’s Festival presented by ExxonMobil Nov. 11 and 12.
Throughout the weekend, the Pavilion will be transformed into a wild safari for explorers of all ages with a chance to meet Peppa Pig, Jack Hanna, The Berenstain Bears and other characters at various times each day.
On Saturday, Jack Hanna’s Into the Wild, presented by Nationwide, will take viewers on excursions around the world through the eyes of America’s most beloved animal adventurer and his family.
“The unscripted and action-packed show is sure to leave you with a renewed appreciation for all creatures, great and small,” Gravois said.
The explorers will also have a chance to experiment with science-related educational and hands-on activities in the exploratory environment in the South Plaza at the Accenture S.T.E.A.M. Zone where Janet’s Planet and Nutty Scientists will be available for visits.
“Or if you have a little Picasso, head to Where The Wild Things Art for crafts, drawing and other artistry. Kids can set their eyes on the sky at the Newfield Exploration Skyfari featuring kite building, parachute races and more,” the information stated. “Let the kids wear themselves out by exploring every inch of the Anadarko Alligator Adventure Zone. From bubble runners and bungee jumpers to inflatable bumper cars and rock climbing walls, there are plenty of wild adventures to be had.”
Young festival go-ers ages four and under can join in on the fun in the Cub Corner in the Event Center where a “festival-within-a-festival” will be set up.
“This new area will feature storytelling, musical performances, interactive animal presentations, arts and crafts, free exploration, a special toddler inflatable and even a special nursing/changing area,” Gravois stated.
Admission is $8 per person in advance or $10 per person at the door. All activities are included in the price of admission.
HOLLY JOLLY JINGLE
The community will have a chance to ring in the holiday season once again for the annual Holly Jolly Jingle, free of charge Nov. 30.
“The plazas will be decked out for holiday fun where guests can visit with holiday characters, make arts and crafts, listen to carolers sing and much more,” Gravois stated.
Thousands from the community attend the event each year, which will feature performances of holiday classics and popular carols by Conroe ISD students and the Sam Houston State University Orchestra.
“It’s a great way to showcase our student musicians and for them to see university level music performances,” Shenandoah resident Molly Carr told The Courier during the 2015 Holly Jolly Jingle.
The pre-concert activities and the Candy Cane Express will start rolling at 5:30 p.m. Preferred parking is available at all Ticketmaster locations for $10 plus service charge. Free guest parking is available in lighted and patrolled lots convenient to The Pavilion.
